It is already implemented on the stock Android, and the company is retouching all of its first-party applications with it. Files by Google also gets the latest redesign.

Material 3 Expressive is here for Files by Google

After rolling out Material 3 Expressive to its apps like Gmail and Dialer, the tech giant is now pushing the new design language to its Files by Google app. As reported by Android Authority, Google has started rolling out the newest theme to its default file manager app for Android. As of right now, the update is only available to a handful of users, but most users will get it in the coming days.

The implementation of Material 3 Expressive on Files by Google app is no different than others. It brings a bold and colorful design profile to the file manager. Once updated to the latest version, you will first notice much bigger and highlighted thumbnails for the recent media files.

It brings bolder icons, redesigned thumbnails, and colorful buttons

Once you pass the newly redesigned thumbnails, you will see redesigned icons for the files. It is now more evident and colorful. The floating action button has been designed to match the design language of Material 3 Expressive. Aside from these, you will notice a slight change in the font used throughout the application.

While the app was already made to adjust itself to the accent colour of your homescreen wallpaper. But it now adapts to a more bold and darker color profile. This gives it a more modern and appealing look. Last but not least, the progress bar now gets a squiggly indicator. It is similar to what we used to get on the progress bar of the music widget on the control centre or the lock screen.
