Google Gemini Mobile App Is Finally Getting Its Powerful ‘Canvas’ Feature

It’s safe to say that most apps and smartphones these days are pre-loaded with AI. Among the famous AI chatbots, Google Gemini stands out as a de facto AI assistant on Android. Google is now upgrading its AI assistant with the new interactive Canavs feature. It will allow the Gemini app to create webpages from documents, generate quizzes, and much more.,

The Android app of the Gemini uses on-device hardware capabilities to run AI features. While it is great, it lacks some of the features of the cloud-based version. Its web version has an interesting feature that’s called ‘Canvas.’ It allows the user to do many advanced things like generate an audio overview, write code, and develop an app. This feature was absent on the Gemini mobile app for a long time.

Due to the absence of features, most users are forced to use the web version of Gemini. Despite having it natively available on the smartphone. But thankfully, Google seems to be hearing from its users. It is finally bringing the Interactive Canvas feature to Gemini’s mobile app.

The Gemini mobile app will soon get the Canvas feature

While testing the beta version of the Google Gemini app (version 16.31.75.sa.arm64), folks at Android Authority were able to get their hands on the new Interactive Canvas feature. As said earlier, this was previously limited to the web version.

When you open a document or list created using the Canvas, you will get a ‘+’ icon. Tapping on it will allow you to generate web pages (from the documents, infographics, quizzes, audio overviews, and more experimental stuff. And not to mention, you would need good enough hardware and a subscription to Google AI Pro/Ultra to run it seamlessly. It will be, however, available for limited use to free users as well.
