Samsung has lost $10.6 million in an instant, as a ton of Samsung Galaxy Z7 series smartphones have been stolen, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 devices.

12,000 Samsung foldables have been stolen in London, causing a $10.6 million loss for the company

What happened exactly? Well, according to Ice Universe, a well-known tipster, a truck carrying 12,000 Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 smartphones has been stolen in London. It all happened near London Heathrow Airport, the tipster claims.

That is basically all the information that the tipster shared. We’re not sure if the authorities or Samsung have been able to locate the stolen truck, nor how exactly did this happen. It’s possible the truck has been targeted on purpose, considering its contents, though it could be just a random carjacking.

It is quite possible that Samsung already sent a code to blocklist all of those smartphones, however. That way they can’t be illegally sold and then activated and used.

This is not a major loss for Samsung, in the general sense of things

There is also a good chance that those devices have been insured. If that’s the case, Samsung will not exactly face a major loss here, perhaps not even a loss at all. Though, let’s be honest, $10.6 million is not a big loss for the company either way.

The devices in that truck were on the way to an unknown location. The ultimate goal was for them to arrive to a carrier/retailer and be sold, of course. That was obviously a shipment on its way… somewhere.

As many of you know, the two devices were announced in early July and went on sale later in July. Both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 are now available to purchase across the globe.
