The wraps are coming off Samsung’s next generation of smartwatches. A new, massive leak has revealed nearly all key specs about the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 lineup. If these details hold true, fans have a lot to look forward to, including a return for a beloved feature and some serious performance upgrades across the board.

Leaked specs of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series

This Dealabs leak confirms three models for the Galaxy Watch series from 2025—as expected. The company will launch a standard Galaxy Watch 8 (in 40mm and 44mm sizes), the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (46mm), and the premium Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 (47mm). All three are set to be powered by Samsung’s 3nm Exynos W1000 chip launched last year. Yes, this is the same chip as the Galaxy Watch 7 series.

All upcoming models will also boast 2GB of RAM, enough to run One UI Watch. However, there will be differences in terms of available internal storage. The Watch 8 and Classic will offer 32GB of storage, while the Ultra 2 steps it up with a generous 64GB. This will allow you to download all your favorite apps and store even more offline music. Out of the box, they’ll run on Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch, with a promise of four major Wear OS updates.

Divisive squircle design

Visually, Samsung is embracing the “squircle” design (a blend of square and round elements) across the entire range. Samsung debuted this design on the Watch Ultra, and it doesn’t seem to leave anyone indifferent. The displays on all models are impressive, capable of reaching a dazzling 3,000 nits of peak brightness at 327 pixels per inch. Material choices vary: the Watch 8 sports an aluminum case, the Classic opts for sleek stainless steel, and the Ultra 2 retains its predecessor’s robust titanium build. The screen of all variants will have a sapphire glass cover.

Fans of the physical rotating bezel will be pleased to know it makes a welcome return on the Classic model. This variant will also feature a handy quick-action button—also found on the Ultra 2.

Battery, connectivity and health

Battery life is always a key concern for wearables. While official cell figures are pending, the leaked capacities hint at decent endurance. The Watch 8 in its 40mm and 44mm variants will get 325mAh and 435mAh batteries, respectively. The Classic version will also have a 435mAh cell. Meanwhile, the Ultra 2 leads the pack with a substantial 590mAh unit. All models will support magnetic wireless charging. Connectivity options include Bluetooth-only and LTE versions for the Watch 8 and Classic, while the Ultra 2 goes all-in with only an LTE variant.

When it comes to health, Samsung isn’t holding back. Standard sensors across all models include an accelerometer, altimeter, gyroscope, light sensor, PPG, ECG, and BIA. Expect new health and fitness tracking refinements, such as carotenoid level measurements. You will also find improved running guidance and smarter sleep tracking features.

Launching on July 9

Official pricing for all regions is also pending confirmation. However, the leaks suggest a slight price increase compared to previous generations in Europe. The Galaxy Watch 8 release date is set for July 9, with Samsung is gearing up to deliver a powerful and refined smartwatch experience.
