Samsung is set to reveal the Galaxy Watch 8 lineup this week at its upcoming Summer Unpacked event, with three watches rumored to be in the lineup, and it looks like Gemini will make its Wear OS debut with these watches. While the watches won’t be available right away, Samsung is letting customers take advantage of its Galaxy Reserve promotion early to get a little something extra. Gemini has been confirmed as coming to Wear OS, but so far, it’s been unclear which watches were going to receive it first. Speculation has centered around it being the Galaxy Watch 8 series, as Samsung’s watches have typically been the first, or among the first, to get these new changes. For example, they were the first watches to get Wear OS 4 and Wear OS 5. They were also the first to get Google Assistant when it rolled out. It looks like the same thing may be happening with Gemini.
The Wear OS debut of Gemini seems like a sure thing for the Galaxy Watch 8 series
Even though the possibility is strong for Gemini to hit the Galaxy Watch 8 series devices first, it’s still unconfirmed. Having said that, a leak from Roland Quandt on Bluesky shows advertising for the feature on Samsung’s upcoming watches. In Quandt’s post, he simply said “Galaxy Watch 8 Classic” and posted two promotional images. One for the Classic model and one for the regular model of the Galaxy Watch 8. In the promotional image for the Classic, the display says “Ask Google Gemini” on it. This suggests that Samsung will be the first to push this feature out. Samsung’s new watches should be out in the next few weeks, after all.
However, it’s also possible that Gemini won’t be available right away. A few Google features were advertised as coming to Wear OS in the past. Only to have it be months from the announcement before they finally launched. That isn’t to say the same thing will happen here, but it is possible. Users should also be able to get it with either model of the watch.
