The software on our phones isn’t always perfect, especially when it comes to new features. However, you would think a simple alarm clock wouldn’t be that hard to mess up, right? Unfortunately for owners of Pixel phones, the alarm is something Google just can’t seem to get right.
Google Pixel alarm problems
According to a post on Reddit, users are encountering issues with the alarm on their Google Pixel phones. This comes in the form of the alarm on their phones not going off despite having been set.
Based on the comments on the post, the OP is not alone in this issue. Many other Pixel users have come forward to share similar experiences. Some say that they were late for work because the alarm did not go off. Some even claim to have missed their flight because the alarm didn’t go off.
One user even goes as far as suggesting that Google isn’t planning to fix it. According to u/Fluxcapasiter, “It’s real. Happened to me a few times. Google says they can’t replicate the problem and so they are not looking for a fix.” The scary thing is that this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about this problem.
Back in March, there was a bug on the Pixel 9 that stopped the alarm from going off. This means that this is clearly a problem that has been going on for a while.
So, what can users do?
If the comment about Google not planning to fix it is true, then Pixel owners have no choice but to turn to third-party apps. It sounds borderline ridiculous that you have to download a third-party alarm app for a function that seems so basic. However, if you don’t want to take the chance your Pixel alarm won’t go off, the Simple Alarm Clock is an option.
The app is free but there are ads and in-app purchases. However, it has been downloaded over 10 million times, so clearly Android users trust it. We’re really hoping that Google will fix this issue. But until they do, third-party apps are your best bet.
