Huawei was the first company to introduce the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, the Huawei Mate XT (officially called the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design). While brands like Samsung are still working to get their first tri-fold smartphone out there, Huawei is preparing for the launch of its second-generation tri-fold smartphone, the Huawei Mate XT 2. Earlier leaks have already spilled the specs and the launch month. Now, a new report has revealed the colors of the Huawei Mate XT 2.

The Huawei Mate XT 2 will reportedly be available in four colors

The news comes via PhoneArena, which today reported that the Huawei Mate XT 2 will be available in four color options at launch. These include Mystic Black, Bright White, Auspicious Red, and Crimson Purple. Do note that Huawei’s first tri-fold launched with just two color options, Red and Black.

To catch you up, Huawei launched the original Mate XT at an expensive price tag of $2,800. However, reports suggested that the device sold quite well. That’s surprising considering that the Mate XT’s price went up to an eye-popping $10,000 due to shortages.

Now, a reputed Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station (DCS), says that, with improvements incoming, the industry is expecting the Mate XT 2 to sell well, too. Only time will tell if this turns out to be true. As mentioned earlier, Samsung is reportedly still working on its first tri-fold smartphone, the Galaxy G Fold. Everyone expected Samsung to launch it at the July Unpacked. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.

The new device will reportedly feature a new SoC and hardware improvements

If Huawei manages to launch the Mate XT 2 in September, it’ll be the world’s second mass-produced tri-fold smartphone unless Samsung surprises us by dropping the Galaxy G Fold earlier. Rumors suggest that the Huawei Mate XT 2 will pack an in-house Kirin chipset, manufactured using the “N-1 mode” process.

The device could use the Kirin 9020 SoC, an upgraded chipset and successor of the Kirin 9010. You can also expect improvements in the camera and other departments. Moreover, the Huawei Mate XT 2 will likely launch first in China, with a global launch later down the line.
