Cambridge Audio P100 SE debuts with louder sound and 100-hour battery

Cambridge Audio is back with a new pair of wireless over-ear headphones, the Melomania P100 SE. If the name sounds familiar, it should because this is a Special Edition version of the original P100. However, the company has tuned it for bigger sound and longer and more comfortable listening sessions.
What’s new with the Cambridge Audio P100 SE
On the outside, the Cambridge Audio Melomania P100 SE keeps the familiar shape of the original. However, it now comes in a bold new Blue color alongside the existing Black and White finishes. It also sports a redesigned headband with softer padding and a softer clamping force. Basically, it should feel better on your head after a few hours of use.
Under the hood, Cambridge Audio didn’t hold back. The P100 SE features a 40mm three-layer composite driver and uses Class AB amplification. This is the same tech found in the company’s hi-fi gear. That’s what delivers its signature detailed and dynamic sound. Cambridge Audio has also made some tweaks to the tuning for louder playback and punchier bass. However, listeners should still expect clean mids and highs.
One feature worth noting is DynamEQ. This is Cambridge Audio’s take on dynamic equalization. It automatically tweaks the sound curve so your music still feels full and balanced even at low volumes. The headphones also support aptX Lossless and Snapdragon Sound for CD-quality streaming over Bluetooth 5.3. Plus, they come with a low-latency gaming mode.
Battery life is another standout feature. The company claims you can get up to 60 hours with ANC turned on, or a ridiculous 100 hours with it off. We haven’t tested it out for ourselves, but if it’s accurate, that’s pretty awesome. Also, a quick 5-minute charge gives you another two hours of playback. The headphones also support for wired connections via USB-C to 3.5mm or USB-C to USB-C.
Pricing & availability
The Cambridge Audio Melomania P100 SE is available now from the company’s website and Amazon. It’s priced at $299 in the US, £249 in the UK, and €279 in Europe. That’s not cheap, but for everything it offers, especially the sound quality, battery life, and design, it might be worth it.
