Since last year, multiple sources have suggested that Apple has abandoned titanium metal in favor of aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro models. A purported production line leak may have now given us the first glimpse of the rumored all-aluminum chassis of the iPhone 17 Pro.

Apple is abandoning titanium in favor of aluminum for iPhone 17 Pro

In a post on the Korean website Never, a smartphone supply chain leaker who goes by the name “yuex1122” has shared some photos of the all-aluminum iPhone 17 Pro. The same tipster recently leaked what appears to be the battery of the much-awaited iPhone 17 Air.

The images shared by the tipster are in line with earlier reports that Apple has ditched the glass sandwich and titanium frame. Assuming the leaks are accurate, Apple would have only used titanium for the iPhone for a mere two years.

It’s worth mentioning that the photos also show that Apple has dropped the separate back glass panel on the iPhone 17 Pro. The aluminium frame visible in the images seems to go all around the new iPhones.

Also, the chassis has multiple small holes around the camera island to house the multiple lenses and sensors. Additionally, the all-aluminum body has a large circular hole for MagSafe in the middle.

Apple could launch the new iPhones on September 9th

Apple hasn’t yet officially hinted at when it plans to launch the new iPhone 17 series. However, if we believe the rumors, the Cupertino tech giant will hold an event on September 9th to reveal the new devices. This means the company could start taking pre-orders on September 12th, before the release date on September 19th.

If the rumors are true, Apple will start sending invites for the event by the end of August. We’ll know more soon enough, so stay tuned for regular updates.
