Let’s be honest, how many of you actually care about the cameras on your tablet? Granted, having a nice set of cameras on a tablet is a good thing, but is it that important compared to your phone? Probably not. However, for Apple’s upcoming M5 iPad Pro, the company could be giving its cameras an upgrade.
M5 iPad Pro to debut new cameras
According to a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter, the analyst claims that Apple could add another camera to the front of the upcoming M5 iPad Pro.
When Apple launched the M4 iPad Pro, the company made a change to the tablet’s camera. Instead of positioning the front-facing camera in portrait orientation, the company shifted it to landscape orientation. We can only guess that Apple was working under the assumption that most iPad users would be using the tablet in landscape mode, especially when paired with the Magic Keyboard accessory.
However, this frustrated users who used the tablet in portrait mode. But according to Gurman, Apple will fix that. The report claims that Apple will add a second camera to the front of the iPad. This means that there will be one camera in landscape orientation, followed by another camera in portrait orientation.
We know it sounds and might look a little weird. However, the other camera will apparently blend into the tablet’s bezels. This means that it should stay somewhat hidden and won’t be an eyesore.
What to expect?
That being said, other than the potential addition of a new front-facing camera, there won’t be any major changes to the iPad Pro. Apple will introduce the M5 chipset to the tablet, but the overall design is expected to remain the same.
Apple is still expected to maintain both 11-inch and 13-inch options. There is no word on when the tablet will arrive. However, given that the M4 model was refreshed in May last year, it has been more than a year between models. This means that the tablet is probably due for a refresh soon. The rumors claim that it will launch later this year, so we’ll have to wait and see.
