Battlefield 6 is on track to be the biggest launch of the franchise

The launch of Battlefield 6 is coming up, but it’s still more than a month away, and yet, it’s already on track to be a huge success. Of course, there is still time for things to head in a negative direction. However, given the success of the currently available beta weekend, that doesn’t seem likely.
Battlefield 6 is in its second beta weekend, which is set to end on August 17, and it would seem that fans of the franchise are happy with the way things are going. Pre-orders for the game have surpassed 605,000, and this is just on Steam. So that’s not counting the pre-orders through the EA app, or on consoles like the Xbox Series X or PS5. This detail is part of why Alinea Analytics’ Head of Market Analysis, Rhys Elliot, thinks the game has the potential to be huge. Not just huge, however, but the best the franchise has ever seen when it comes to a launch.
Aninea Analytics analyst believes Battlefield 6 could crack 1 million pre-orders before launch
While 605,000 pre-orders on Steam alone is already a good start, it could go higher. When you factor in the console pre-orders, and any pre-orders that may have happened or will happen in the EA app. Not to mention the additional pre-orders that may happen across all of them.
Elliot predicts that the game will crack 1 million pre-orders. That is by no means a small number. And it seems feasible, too. At its peak, Battlefield 6 had over 400,000 concurrent players. There are over 348,000 online at the time of writing, according to Steamdb info. It’s not even the weekend yet, so there will undoubtedly be more people hopping online to play as Friday evening settles in.
This is all to say that Battlefield 6 has, so far, been pretty well-received. So, a massive launch for the game definitely seems like it’s in the cards. Battlefield 6 hasn’t been without its issues, of course. The first open beta weekend has some pretty glaring problems with the servers that were causing players to experience latency and other connectivity issues in Conquest, one of the game’s large-scale battle modes. Meanwhile, smaller match types, such as Domination, didn’t have many issues at all. One of this weekend’s most popular modes, Rush, saw a variety of complaints, including players taking issue with the Defender timers and MCOM timers. EA has been quick to fix these issues, though, and players have been loving this sort of quick response to problems. This all helps to set up Battlefield 6 as having a successful launch when the time comes.
Pre-order revenues have passed $35 million, and more than 2.7 million people on Steam have wishlisted the game
So far, Battlefield 6 has made a good amount of revenue for EA. According to Elliot, the pre-order revenues are already beyond $35 million. There is still a lot of time to go before the game’s launch on October 10. So, expect that number to jump considerably higher. Additionally, about 2.7 million people on Steam have put Battlefield 6 on their wishlist. Some of those were undoubtedly people who have already pre-ordered, but there’s likely a fair number of people who haven’t pre-ordered yet who have wishlisted the game as well.
This all points to huge success for one of EA’s biggest franchises. And it’s sorely needed after the launch of Battlefield 2042. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Elliot said that Battlefield 6 “has the potential to do the best Battlefield has ever done.” That sounds about right with the current trajectory of things.
