Are you one of the owners of the ultra-thin flagship Galaxy S25 Edge? Well, we have good news for you. While you’re likely enjoying your premium device, Samsung is already working hard on its next big software upgrade. Recent findings confirm that the Android 16-based One UI 8 update for the Galaxy S25 Edge is now officially in development. This means that the company is actively preparing to bring a fresh suite of features and refinements to your smartphone.

Samsung is moving faster than it did with One UI 7 for its next device update. The company already did all the heavy lifting on One UI 7, with users receiving a revamped UI, more customization options, and new features. Devices like the Galaxy S25 series received access to the One UI 8 beta. This confirmed that the new firmware actually feels more like the “final version” of One UI 7. The South Korean giant is focusing on optimizations and refinements.

Coming back to the Galaxy S25 Edge, One UI 8 test ROMs popped up recently. They had build numbers S937BXXU1BYF7/S937BOXM1BYF7/S937BXXU1BYF7. This confirms that the Galaxy S25 Edge will be among the first Galaxy handsets to receive the stable version of the new firmware. One UI 8 promises to deliver a host of enhancements, making the user experience even smoother, more intuitive, and useful.

Samsung has yet to officially confirm when the One UI 8 rollout will begin. In fact, the company is still rolling out One UI 7 to all eligible devices. Fortunately, at this point, all flagship models (and many mid-rangers) have already received the update. We’ll likely learn more details at the Unpacked event next July.

Samsung’s One UI 8, based on Android 16, brings some nice upgrades. You’ll get redesigned system apps, improved split-screen multitasking, and faster Quick Share for enhanced productivity. New features also include advanced AI integrations, refined camera controls, and bolstered security with Secure Folder. There is also innovative audio sharing via Auracast, alongside general UI polish and performance boosts.
