Galaxy S26 Edge Could Boast Bigger Battery & Even Thinner Design
July 23, 2025 | by Admin

Samsung seems to be on a mission to redefine what’s possible with smartphone design. The company has already made its intentions clear with the thinness of the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy Z Fold 7. When we talk about non-foldable devices, an incredibly thin profile usually requires some compromises. However, a new buzz in the tech world suggests Samsung has a clever solution for at least one of its next premium phones. According to fresh reports, the Galaxy S26 Edge might actually be thinner than its predecessor, yet pack a bigger battery.
The information comes from reliable tipster Ice Universe on X/Twitter. The post only mentions that Samsung will use “new battery material technology” in the Galaxy S26 Edge, without going into further details. Currently, the most popular battery technology that allows for denser cells is silicon-carbon. Thanks to this innovation, several flagship phones now offer massive mAh figures without increasing the phone’s bulk.
Samsung working on an even thinner Galaxy S26 Edge, without tradeoffs
Traditional smartphone batteries use graphite. But silicon-carbon composites can store significantly more energy in the same space. This could be the key to Samsung better delivering battery life in an even sleeker package.
For context, the incredibly thin Galaxy S25 Edge (just 5.8mm) houses a relatively modest 3,900mAh battery. This slimness also meant it featured only two rear cameras, compared to the triple-camera setups often seen on other premium phones. If Samsung does indeed adopt advanced battery tech for the S26 Edge, it could resolve these trade-offs.
A larger battery capacity is always welcome news for smartphone users, promising more hours of usage between charges. Galaxy phone fans have long been asking for improvements in battery capacity. The company has been offering the same figures for years in its Galaxy S26, resorting to optimization to deliver the best possible battery life.
Samsung already achieves decent-to-great battery life figures with less dense batteries than others. It will be interesting to see how far they can go with a potential Galaxy S26 Ultra with even more mAh.
