For the past few generations, Samsung hasn’t really done much with the battery size and charging speeds of its Galaxy S Ultra series of phones. They have remained at 5,000mAh with 45W charging speeds. However, that could change with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is rumored to get a bump in battery size and charging speeds.

Galaxy S26 Ultra potential battery size and charging

According to posts on X by tipsters @UniverseIce and @chunvn8888, both agree that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could get a boost in charging speeds to 65W. However, it seems that both can’t agree on the battery size of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. According to @chunvn8888, they claim that the phone could get an upgraded 5,500mAh battery. @UniverseIce, on the other hand, disagrees.

However, even if the battery remains the same, the upgraded charging speeds are welcome. We’ve seen many other Android phones support incredibly fast charging speeds. Samsung, in comparison, feels practically slow. Honestly, we wouldn’t call 45W slow. But when other phone makers are pushing speeds of 80W and higher, we have to wonder what’s holding Samsung back.

Maybe the exploding batteries in the Galaxy Note 7 have given Samsung a bit of pause when it comes to batteries and charging. Who knows? Either way, here’s hoping that the rumors are true. The Galaxy S26 series is expected in the early part of 2026, so there’s still a bit of waiting left to do.

What else can we expect?

In addition to the potential upgrade in battery size and charging speeds, we have heard that Samsung could utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in its Galaxy S26 phones. However, an interesting rumor suggests that it could be a different variant. Qualcomm usually turns to TSMC for its chipset production.

The latest rumors suggest it could be a dual manufacturer approach, where TSMC will make some of its chipsets, and Samsung will make the rest. The rumor claims that Samsung could end up using its own version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. However, we don’t know what the potential differences are, if there are any.

We’ve also heard rumors that Samsung could ditch the Plus model next year. Instead, it will be replaced by the Galaxy S26 Edge.
