The launch of the Galaxy S26 series is still several months away. However, each year’s Galaxy S devices generate so much hype among Samsung fans that leaks start quite early. This is what’s been happening with these devices in recent weeks. Now, a fresh leak has revealed a key detail about the upgraded Galaxy S26 Ultra: a welcome RAM speed boost.

When talking about smartphone specs, many people focus on aspects like new processors and better cameras. RAM also often comes into the conversation, but mainly to discuss capacity figures—and, in more specific cases, RAM standards. However, many overlook the fact that RAM data transfer speed is another key factor that directly impacts a device’s performance. That being said, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could boast the highest RAM speed on the market.

Samsung tipped to boast of RAM speed on the Galaxy S26 Ultra

Reliable tipster @UniverseIce claimed on X/Twitter that the S26 Ultra will feature a new RAM chip that’s significantly faster than what’s currently on the market. Specifically, the phone could boast of a LPDDR5X RAM with a data transfer speed of 10.7Gbps.

To put that into perspective, the previous Galaxy S25 Ultra used LPDDR5X RAM with a speed of 8.5Gbps. This means the S26 Ultra’s RAM is a whopping 25% faster than its predecessor’s. Think of it like this: if your phone’s processor is a high-performance engine, the RAM is the highway that all the data travels on. A 25% faster highway means everything from loading apps to juggling multiple tasks happens with greater speed and efficiency.

The benefits of this faster RAM chip go far beyond just a number on a spec sheet. You can expect to see real-world improvements across the board. Gamers will likely notice smoother graphics and faster loading times in the most demanding titles. For everyone else, this means a snappier user experience, with apps opening in an instant and switching between them feeling completely seamless.

The leak gets even more exciting as it hints at another 16GB of RAM for all Galaxy S26 Ultra models. Additionally, the device is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chipset. This potential hardware combination promises to deliver impressive performance for any task.

The question is: RAM from Samsung or Micron?

The tipster didn’t mention who will produce the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s RAM modules. Recall that Samsung had to source RAM—and storage—from third-party supplier Micron for the Galaxy S25 series. However, Samsung itself announced an improved LPDDR5X DRAM chip in early 2024 whose speed matches the one tipped. So, we could be talking about RAM developed in the South Korean giant’s factories. Anyway, Micron also announced its own 10.7Gbps DRAM chip in early 2025.
