Google Could Launch a More Affordable Gemini Plan

Google could be planning to make the premium tiers of the Gemini assistant more affordable. The company already offers some Gemini features without any cost to all users. There are also the Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra paid plans, which provide access to more premium functionalities. The search titan could now launch a new Google AI Lite plan in the future, suggests a report.

A more affordable Gemini plan could be in the works

While Google hasn’t yet shown any signs for a more affordable Gemini package, the code of the latest Google beta app hints towards a “Google AI Lite” plan. This plan could fill the gap between the Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra premium tiers. Folks over at Android Authority have discovered strings of code in the latest Google beta app indicating the availability of a new Gemini paid plan.

As seen in the code snippets above, “robin” is the codename for Google’s Gemini assistant, as per the source. Some strings of code refer to the new plan as “Lite Mode” too. Another set of code within the beta Google app refers to this Lite plan as “AIL”.

New plan could raise limits for deep research and video generation

The report also indicates that Google could sell the new affordable paid tier to users when they reach the free limits for features like video generation and deep research. As of now, the free version of Gemini gives users only a taste of premium features like deep research and video generation. The new plan could provide increased rate limits for these functionalities.

There’s a possibility that the new tier might offer some level of access to newer, more advanced AI models, such as Gemini 2.5 Pro. That’s only a speculation at the moment as the information found inside the code is quite vague at the moment.

As of now, it’s unclear when and if Google plans to launch the new Google AI Lite plan. At the moment, if you want to enjoy the more premium features of Gemini, then you can pay $19.99 a month for the Google AI Pro plan or $249.99 per month for the Google AI Ultra plan.
