Google Just Ripped Off Another iOS Feature — And Honestly, We’re Here for It

The Pixel Phone app may soon get a new Call Messages feature. It can take messages, filter out spam, and summarize missed/rejected calls and more. This is similar to Live Voicemail from iOS. This isn’t the only thing that the company might be borrowing from Apple. The latest discovery points to Google’s own version of iOS Contact Posters in the form of “Calling Cards.”
The Google Calling Cards may utilize a full-screen picture
Android Authority has reportedly spotted the strings of the Calling Cards feature in the Google Contacts app. The feature may get the ability to have custom pictures and “stylized rendering of your name to announce callers.”
Further changes now appear in the Contacts (version 4.60.30.783994635), hinting at what could be on offer when it’s available officially. Calling Cards may allow users to choose a custom front, possibly to display the name. The latest string (
The Google Contacts app doesn’t seem to be ready just yet to show the feature in action. However, what looks like an illustration of the Calling Cards is here, and this hints at what it may look like when it’s finally available. This shows that Calling Cards will utilize a full-screen picture of the contact. Unfortunately, the illustration image doesn’t explicitly show how the text area will appear within the cards.

Hopefully, the Contacts Calling Cards feature makes it to a wider audience soon. This should offer Android users a taste of Apple’s Contact Posters feature.
