Google Keep for Android is finally getting the Material 3 Expressive makeover. This came after the widget got the taste of it back in April. The redesign brings a much bolder look to the app, which usually slips off the radar. The search bar gets the new Material 3 Expressive treatment with a thicker field, and the icons are now slightly bigger.

Google Keep gets a bold new Material 3 Expressive redesign

The Google Keep Material 3 Expressive UI has an external hamburger button on the left, while the profile switcher icon is on the right, for a better visual separation. The ‘Google Keep’ animation in the search bar is still present during the initial app load and switches to ‘Search Keep’. There’s also the single/multi-column picker on the right edge of the bar.

Other areas that get the Material 3 Expressive changes are within notes. The buttons on this page are now in containers. At the top right corner are the pin, reminder, and archive buttons in rounded square buttons. While the overflow button has a pill shape, the plus, color/background, and text formatting get circular containers. The ‘Edited’, date and time text is moved from the bottom to the three-dot overflow menu.

Availability

The Google Keep Material 3 Expressive redesign arrives with the app version number 5.25.282.00.90. The makeover is reportedly not widely available at the moment, but we suggest you keep an eye out.

Besides the Material 3 Expressive, Google Keep may soon get a new Find in Notes feature. As the name suggests, it lets you search within individual notes for the details you need. This is accessible via the three-dot menu button. However, clicking on the option is reportedly crashing the Google Keep app at the moment, possibly indicating it’s not ready for the public. This can be really helpful if you have a lot of notes.
