If you were hoping that Apple would maintain the prices of its iPhone 17 lineup this year, you might be disappointed to learn that it could launch to higher prices. This is according to GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, who believes Apple will most likely raise the prices of its iPhone 17 series this year.
iPhone 17 to see higher prices
In the past, companies typically raised prices of their products due to fluctuating currencies, increased R&D spending, an increase in raw materials, and so on. However, according to Pu, he believes the higher iPhone 17 prices might be attributed to tariffs.
Apple currently makes most of its iPhones in India and China. Coincidentally enough, both India and China have been hit with the highest tariffs by the Trump administration. So, the question is, how much more expensive are we looking at? According to Wall Street analysts, we can expect a price hike between $50 and $100.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a potential increase in price. An earlier report suggested Apple could launch the base iPhone 17 Pro with 256GB of storage. This puts it on par with the Pro Max. However, as a result, it is rumored to cost $50 more than the previous model. It’s not necessarily a massive increase, but considering that phones have been steadily going up over the years, we’re sure there are bound to be complaints. Remember when the first-gen iPhone cost $500? Yea, those days are long gone.
When will the new iPhones launch?
So far, Apple hasn’t confirmed a launch date for its new iPhone 17 series. However, the latest rumors are pointing towards a September launch. This doesn’t come as a surprise. In the past few years, Apple has usually used September as a launch date for its iPhones. But for 2025, the rumored date is for the 9th of September.
The company is also rumored to start accepting pre-orders for the 12th of September, and the phones will be released on the 19th. This year’s lineup will also be slightly different from last year. Apple will ditch the iPhone Plus model and replace it with the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air.
We don’t have word on how much it will cost, but leaked photos and renders suggest it will be incredibly thin.
