iPhone 17 Pro Price May Climb, But Apple’s Throwing in a Storage Boost

If you’re hoping that Apple will maintain the price of its iPhone 17 Pro series, think again. According to a post on Weibo by tipster Instant Digital, Apple could bump the price up by $50.
Apple to bump iPhone 17 Pro price by $50
$50 isn’t a huge jump. But Apple’s iPhones were already pretty expensive to begin with, so now it just gotten $50 more expensive. However, there is some good news. The post also claims that in addition to increasing the price of the iPhone 17 Pro, Apple will double the base storage.
This means that instead of a mere 128GB of storage for the base model, you’ll be getting 256GB, but it’ll cost you $50 more. This also brings the starting price of the new iPhone to $1,049. For context, the base iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 with 128GB of storage.
This is also not the first time we’re hearing about this. In the past, other analysts have suggested that Apple could bump the price across its lineup by $50. So, this new post by Instant Digital corroborates that. Whether or not it comes true remains to be seen. However, we’re not sure if this price increase is a result of tariffs or if costs in general have gone up.
Either way, with Trump’s 30% tariffs on China, and with the bulk of iPhones made in China, a $50 bump seems like a pretty small price to pay.
What else can we expect?
Apple will debut four new iPhone 17 models this year. There will be the base iPhone 17 model. Then there will be the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Then there will be the new iPhone 17 Air. This model replaces the Plus model, which in the past has struggled to perform as well due to its odd placement between the base and Pro models.
The leaked renders and photos suggest that Apple won’t really change the design of the base iPhone 17. The biggest changes are coming to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, both of which sport a considerably larger camera island. Then, there is also the iPhone 17 Air, which will be Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date.
Apple hasn’t sent out invites yet to its iPhone event. However, it is speculated that it could take place on the 9th of September. The event will also most likely see Apple refresh its Apple Watch series.
