Based on all the iPhone 17 rumors we’ve heard so far, the major design changes will only apply to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. The base iPhone 17 will remain the same. However, a new post on Weibo by Digital Chat Station suggests that we could be looking at screen changes across the iPhone 17 lineup.
iPhone 17 redesigned screen
According to the post, Apple is expected to introduce thinner bezels across the screen of the iPhone 17 models. Prior to this, Apple only reduced the bezels of the Pro and Pro Max models. Now, this report suggests we could be looking at thinner bezels across all models. That might be good news for those who aren’t planning to buy the more expensive Pro and Pro Max.
Next, the report also suggests that a new Dynamic Island UI could be in the works. This isn’t the first time that Digital Chat Station suggested a redesigned Dynamic Island. However, based on the machine translation, it sounds more like a software change rather than a hardware change. The post doesn’t exactly go into details about the change, but so far none of the other rumors have indicated this.
We have heard the rumors that Apple could introduce an under-display Face ID in 2026’s iPhone. It is expected to expand further and include an under-display front-facing camera for the 2027 iPhone. But as far as 2025’s iPhones are concerned, we haven’t really heard anything about a redesigned Dynamic Island.
To be fair, Digital Chat Station has a pretty good track record for Apple rumors. However, as with all rumors, there is a chance it could be wrong. So, take it with a grain of salt.
Apple’s 2025 iPhone lineup
Apple will introduce four models in its iPhone 17 lineup this year. This includes the base iPhone 17 model, the Pro and Pro Max models, and a brand-new iPhone 17 Air. The Air will replace the Plus model. This isn’t surprising given that, based on past reports, Apple’s iPhone Plus models haven’t sold as well as the base or Pro models.
Also, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be a precursor to Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, which last we heard is launching in 2026. It will sport a brand-new ultra-thin design. It will also be Apple’s thinnest iPhone to date and could sport a silicon carbon battery, a first for Apple’s iPhones.
