NotebookLM Gets Featured Notebooks from Some Major Publications & Others

Since last year, Google has been consistently adding more and more features to NotebookLM, its popular AI-powered research assistant. Earlier in May, the search titan finally released the NotebookLM app for Android devices. It also added support for sharing NotebookLM Notes, similar to Google Docs, last month. Google is now feeding some featured notebooks to NotebookLM, which offer a curated selection of content from various authors, researchers, publications, and non-profits.

Google’s AI research assistant can already assemble high-quality sources for people researching hard topics. Now, the new featured notebooks section in NotebooksLM on the web will make things even easier by offering notebooks from major publications like The Atlantic and The Economist, and others. NotebookLM’s new feature is great for both students and professionals.

Google is initially adding eight featured notebooks to NotebookLM

NotebookLM’s desktop version now has a new “Featured notebooks” tab alongside filters for: All, My notebooks, and Shared with me. As of now, it has a collection of eight notebooks. The first round includes a notebook on longevity advice from Eric Topol, bestselling author of “Super Agers”. There’s an advice notebook based on the author Arthur C. Brooks’ “How to Build a Life” column in The Atlantic.

There’s a notebook on a science fan’s guide to visiting Yellowstone National Park and one on an overview of long-term trends in human wellbeing by the University of Oxford-affiliated project, Our World in Data. Other major highlights include expert analysis and predictions for the year 2025 from The World Ahead annual report by The Economist, and the complete works of William Shakespeare. Users can interact with the content of new notebooks using all of NotebookLM’s features

You can head to any of the featured notebooks and use any of the signature tools of NotebookLM. You can simply read the source material, apart from asking particular queries or exploring specific topics in depth. Furthermore, you can listen to pre-generated Audio Overviews or explore the main themes of featured notebooks using NotebookLM’s Mind Maps functionality.

Featured notebooks are currently available to users using the desktop version of NotebookLM right away. Google will continue to add more featured notebooks in the future, including more from its collaboration with The Economist and The Atlantic.
