Pac-Man is a classic and iconic game franchise that has stood the test of time for 45 years, and that has now resulted in a special Pac-Man Edition of the Atari 2600+ console that’s coming out later this year. In terms of features, the Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition is capable of all the same things as the standard edition that was released back in 2023. That means it’ll support widescreen TVs, and it can connect through HDMI. This will allow buyers to integrate the system into their modern setups rather easily. Atari isn’t the only brand celebrating Pac-Man’s 45th. Earlier this year, PowerA released a suite of Nintendo Switch and Xbox Accessories adorned with everyone’s favorite pellet-eating hero. The Xbox controller even glows in the dark.

Of course, the main difference is that this new Pac-Man Edition comes in a bright yellow color with some Pac-Man-themed graphics across the front of the console. It also comes with a matching CX40+ wireless joystick. Last but not least, the console is bundled with a game. Specifically, the original Atari 2600 version of the first Pac-Man game that was ported over from the arcade. On top of this, the Atari 7800 version is included on the same cartridge. This version is supposed to be improved over the original. So, you get both.

The Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition goes up for pre-order on July 23

If you’re looking to delve into the recesses of your childhood memories with the original Atari hardware, you can do so with the new 2600+ Pac-Man Edition pretty soon. Atari is partnering with Plaion and Bandai Namco to release the new Pac-Man Edition of the console. Atari will be putting the console up for pre-order on its official website here in the US starting on July 23. The console will ship this October. So, you only have a few more months to wait for it to show up on your doorstep.

As for the cost, it seems pretty reasonable. The console, which comes with one CX40+ joystick in the matching yellow and the Pac-Man Double Feature cartridge, will be $169.99. You can also buy additional CX40+ wireless joysticks that match the colors of the ghosts. This console will be available on Amazon in the UK, according to Hot Hardware. So, there’s a chance it’ll be available on Amazon in the US as well. As of right now, it doesn’t look like Amazon has it listed. So, US buyers may need to go directly through Atari to get it.
