There is currently a race to develop headsets featuring augmented/mixed reality technology. There aren’t too many options in the market right now, but if you’re looking for a pair of smart glasses, Rokid has recently announced its AR Spatial headset.
Rokid AR Spatial headset
Unlike other smart glasses we’ve seen from Meta or Snap, Rokid’s answer to smart glasses feels more like the company wants to replace your traditional desk and computer setup. It wants you to wear your computer.
One of the main features that we think most of you would love is the headset’s ability to project a screen up to 300 inches in front of your face. That’s way bigger than any TV or monitor we’ve seen. This also means that while you’re wearing the glasses, you get to do so many things that a traditional computer monitor or TV setup would not allow you to.
The headset weighs 75 grams, making it pretty light. The company also boasts that it uses aerospace-grade materials and is compatible with prescription lenses. It also has a built-in diopter adjustment from 0.00D to -6.00D, making it perfect for nearsighted users. Rokid is using its own YodaOS Master as the platform of choice for the AR Spatial.
Upcoming competition
The smart glasses market is still pretty sparse. Meta and Snap have smart glasses that feel more like fun products rather than must-haves. However, this doesn’t mean that Rokid doesn’t have competition.
For starters, Samsung and Google are working on a pair of XR glasses. Then, we have Apple with its Vision Pro headset. Past rumors have suggested Apple could also be looking to expand into smart glasses. Also, Meta is reportedly developing more complex smart glasses than it currently offers. This means that Rokid definitely has its work cut out for it.
That being said, the Rokid AR Spatial is reasonably priced. For $648, it’s a whole lot cheaper than what Apple is offering. The smart glasses were initially shown off at CES 2025, but if you’d like to get your hands on them, they are available for purchase through Rokid’s website.
