This will be Samsung’s best-selling smartphone in 2025 and 2026. This is the Samsung Galaxy A17. It is an ultra-budget device, but it does sell incredibly well for Samsung.

In fact, for the first quarter of 2025, the Galaxy A16 was the best-selling Android phone in the world, coming in right behind most of the iPhone 16 lineup plus the iPhone 15. And this was the case for all of 2024 as well. So there’s no doubt that this Galaxy A17, which will likely cost under $200, is going to be very popular.
Some of the bigger changes here are in the design. Samsung has opted to bring that new camera module look from the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56 down to the Galaxy A17 as well. Which includes that blacked out camera module look, honestly, it looks really good. The Galaxy A17 still doesn’t have symmetrical bezels, with that large chin and the tear-drop notch.
Galaxy A17 is mostly a processor bump
This year, Samsung isn’t updating a whole lot with the Galaxy A17. It’s sticking with mostly the same camera setup – a 50-megapixel primary, 5-megapixel ultrawide, and a 2-megapixel macro – it is also sticking with the same 6.7-inch AMOLED display. It even has the exact same dimensions as the Galaxy A16, which is 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9mm. It will also have a 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging once again.
But it is getting a processor bump. We are expecting it to run on the Exynos 1380, up from the Exynos 1330 on the Galaxy A16 from last year. In fact, we’ve already seen some benchmark listings for the Galaxy A17 with the Exynos 1380, which show that this is indeed a very budget device. It hit a single-core score of 924 on Geekbench 6 and a multi-core score of 2,137. The listing also shows us that this is an 8-core chipset with six cores running at 2GHz and two cores at 2.4GHz. Keep in mind, Samsung actually announced the Exynos 1330 and 1380 a few years ago, so this is an older chip as well.
We do know for sure that the Galaxy A17 will be available from T-Mobile. We do expect that it will be available from virtually every other carrier, prepaid carrier, and MVNO as well. After all, the Galaxy A16 was available everywhere, which is what helped it become such a volume seller for Samsung.
The Galaxy A16 was announced in October of last year, so we’re expecting a similar release date for the Galaxy A17 this year.
