The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is now official, and it comes with quite a few new features. Many of which Samsung announced with One UI 8 Watch already.

New features on the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic include Bedtime Guidance, Vascular Load, Antioxidant Index, and a number of AI features. Samsung is the first to launch Gemini on their smartwatch, and also the first to launch Wear OS 6, ahead of the Google Pixel Watch 4 next month.

First up, Bedtime Guidance. This feature analyzes your sleep and activity patterns to recommend the ideal window for you to get the best rest. It is able to understand your lifestyle and make tailored recommendations to you. Samsung has said that the bedtime suggestion will happen about 2-3 hours before your bedtime. It should work a lot like Whoop’s bedtime guidance.

Then there’s Vascular Load. While the name sounds similar to what Google and Fitbit have launched, it’s actually a bit different. This feature is able to measure the amount of stress that he vascular system experiences during sleep. And instead of giving you a number, it is color-coded from “Lower” to “Higher”. Samsung also mentions that during sleep, stress on the vascular system should naturally decrease, but excessive fluctuations could negatively impact cardiovascular health.

Antioxidant Index is an industry-first feature that will assess carotenoid levels in just five seconds. This is being done with an advanced, light-activated, BioActive sensor. This can help you change your behavior, and will also reflect behavioral changes.

Finally, let’s talk about Running Coach. This is going to offer motivation and real-time guidance, creating a personalized training program that is based on your fitness level. Wearing the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and running for 12 minutes will get you a performance analysis and a running level score from 1 to 10. Running Coach can use this data to provide a detailed training plan to help you complete a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or a full marathon.

World’s first smartwatch with Google Gemini

Google announced at I/O in May that it would be bringing Gemini to Wear OS this fall and replacing Google Assistant. And the new Galaxy Watch 8 series will be the first with Gemini included. It will also be the first to launch with Wear OS 6, both of which we should see soon on the Google Pixel Watch 4 when Google announces it in August.

Samsung says that Gemini is able to understand natural, conversational language, and it can implement multi-step tasks. These would include things like “start a 5-mile run and start my workout playlist.”

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is available for pre-order now, starting at $499. That is a pretty hefty price increase over the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which is its predecessor. But given the amount of inflation and tariffs we’ve seen since the 2023 launch, this was expected. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic LTE will cost you $549.
