Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 hands-on dummy video emphasizes super slim design

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is due to make its debut in just a few short weeks, but you can catch a glimpse of its potential design thanks to the dummy unit shown off in a recently posted hands-on video. Keep in mind that this is just a dummy unit of the phone, so the actual design could be slightly different once it launches officially later this year. However, the phone has already leaked in several other ways, and this includes leaked renders. This is important because those renders look like the dummy. Suggesting that this is what the phone will actually look like.

With that out of the way, there’s one key detail that stands out more than anything else: The thickness of the phone. Samsung, like other brands that make foldables, has been obsessed with one thing more than anything else, it seems. Making the next version of the phone thinner. Samsung will be coming up on its 7th generation of the Galaxy Z Fold series. So, it’s had plenty of time to hone the craft of foldable smartphones and refine the design of its notebook-style foldable. Based on the dummy, Samsung has made the Galaxy Z Fold 7 noticeably thinner. Not just thinner on paper, but thin enough that you can actually see the difference. Whether or not you consider the Galaxy Z Fold 6 thin by any measure, one thing seems clear with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7: It’s Samsung’s thinnest foldable yet. In a video from the Korean YouTube channel TheSinza, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 dummy is compared side-by-side with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. You can see how much thinner the new phone will be compared to the current model. According to measurements taken in the video, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be 9.0mm when folded closed. When it’s unfolded, it appears to measure just 4.5mm.

It will be bigger than the current model, if only slightly

Samsung didn’t just slim down the upcoming device. It also apparently made it slightly bigger than the current model. The video also shows off both phones side-by-side from the front, and there is a slight difference in size. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 won’t end up with a huge size increase. However, the chassis of the phone is just a hair taller. Although you probably wouldn’t know it unless you look at both phones next to each other. In addition to a slightly larger, slightly thinner design, Samsung is expected to introduce new Galaxy Z Fold 7 features.
