Samsung has been investing heavily in research and development lately. The recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a prime example of it. However, smartphones have arguably undergone significant improvements and changes, and there’s very little room for further major development. Now, the South Korean tech giant is reportedly planning to work on AI-powered jewelry as a future beyond phones.
AI-powered wearables will soon become a reality
After last week’s Galaxy Unpacked event, the COO of Samsung Mobile eXperience (MX) division, Woo-Joon Choi, interviewed with CNN. In the interview, the official revealed Samsung’s plan to expand into more AI devices, such as AI jewelry and eyeglasses, in the future.
Samsung is actively searching for opportunities to expand its portfolio of AI devices. This move aligns with the company’s commitment to shaping the future of smartphones and wearables. The COO adds that advancements in AI technology will undoubtedly give rise to entirely new categories of devices that we are yet to experience.
Samsung believes AI jewelry might be the future
The COO says that “We believe that it should be wearables, something you shouldn’t carry. So it should be something you wear.” These devices could be in the form of eyeglasses, jewelry, and earrings. These devices could complement smartphones and sometimes even replace them.
The firm possibly wants to convey that we are not always bound to smartphones and that we can substitute other gadgets in the future. However, the official clarifies that the brand is currently not working on any of these products.
As of right now, Samsung is working on the development of the new Galaxy XR devices, the sequel to the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy watches. It is very hard to predict anything in the fast-evolving tech world. And since AI is growing at a very rapid pace, the smart AI-powered jewelry could soon be a reality.
