One UI 7 is Samsung’s most ambitious update in recent years. It brought in a lot of new features to the table. Now Brief, a brand new UI design, improvements to AI features, to name a few. However, it’s not without its shortcomings. It appears there’s a strange bug in One UI 7 that results in a black line appearing on the display. But don’t fret, Samsung is aware of the issue.
Samsung One UI 7 black line bug reportedly affecting Galaxy Z Flip models
The issue is reportedly affecting some Galaxy Z Flip series models after using the Smart View feature and folding the device. The black line is appearing on the main screen. The bug gives off a feeling that this could be a display defect, which, frankly, has become quite common these days.

Luckily, Samsung has clarified that this is not a hardware issue, but a software bug. If the screen setting in Smart View is set to “Full Screen on connected device mode,” the black bug gets triggered and appears on the inner screen. However, the line disappears automatically after a while.
Samsung confirms a fix is coming
Samsung knows about the One UI 7 black line bug and confirmed that it is already working on a fix. However, it hasn’t shared a specific rollout timeline for the update just yet. We hope it won’t be long.
Meanwhile, a temporary workaround for this is to change the screen ratio setting in Smart View to “Full screen on phone mode.” You can do this by opening the Quick Settings, tapping Smart View, and connecting to your device. Once connected, tap the floating Smart View icon and select “Full screen on phone” from More Options > Settings.
One UI 7, though a major update, had a rough start. Owners of the Galaxy S24 reported poor battery performance after the update. Luckily, it is said to have been addressed in the June update.
