In the Q&A section of the newsletter, Gurman suggests that Apple may launch the iPhone 17 series in the week of the 8th of September. This revelation doesn’t come as a surprise. The iPhone 16 series was announced on the 9th of September. So, keeping it within the first half of September is par for the course.

Gurman points out that Apple typically likes to announce its iPhones on a Tuesday. He believes that this means we’re looking at a launch on the 9th. However, he also speculates that an announcement on the 8th or 10th of September are also possibilities. The company also avoids launching products on the 11th of September, and it usually skips Fridays. This leaves us with three possible dates.

Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup so far

By now, Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup has been leaked to death. The company will launch four new iPhone models this coming September. We’re looking at the base iPhone 17, followed by a brand new model, the iPhone 17 Air. This model will replace the iPhone 17 Plus and offers a brand-new ultra-thin design.

What’s interesting is that the initial rumors suggested that the only thing the iPhone 17 Air has going for it is its thin design. However, recent rumors suggest that it might be more powerful than we thought. It was assumed that it would be powered by the A19 chipset, while the A19 Pro will be reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models.

However, the latest rumors suggest otherwise. Reports from various tipsters from China suggest that the iPhone 17 Air could feature 12GB of RAM, same as the Pro and Pro Max models, and use the A19 Pro. This means that in addition to its ultra-thin design, it could share similar performance as its Pro siblings.

The downside is that based on the leaks, the iPhone 17 Air will feature a single camera setup. Battery life is also rumored to be subpar. While it could use a silicon carbon battery, apparently it still isn’t big enough to keep it juiced up for an entire day.
