By now, we bet that Google wishes it had waited until today to launch its Google Glass. Back when Google Glass launched, it was met with surprising vitriol from the public. But these days, we’re embracing smart glasses more than ever. So, if you’re looking for a new pair of smart glasses, you might want to check out the new Luma Pro from Viture.
Meet the new Viture Luma Pro
Viture is planning to introduce a lineup of Luma smart glasses. This lineup consists of the base Luma model, the Luma Pro, and the Luma Ultra. It is also planning on introducing a flagship model called “The Beast”. The Luma Pro will be the first pair of smart glasses that you can buy today, while the rest are expected to be released at a later date.
So, what can you expect from the Luma Pro? It is priced starting at $499. The glasses features a 152-inch virtual display and 52-degrees field-of-vision. It also boasts a “4K-like” resolution, support for dynamic light effects, three degrees of freedom tracking, electrochromatic dimming, magnetic nose pads, and top-mounted dials.
According to the company, the Luma Pro is designed with gaming in mind. This means that you can use it with consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2, Steam Deck, PlayStation, your PC, and so on.
The rest of the lineup
If you don’t necessarily see yourself using smart glasses for gaming, then maybe the other models might be more suited to your needs. For instance, the base Luma model is priced at $399. It is only available in September, but it feels like it is more “general purpose”. It has a slightly smaller 146-inch virtual display, 50-degree FoV, and a 1200p resolution with 1,000 nits of peak brightness.
Then, there is the Viture Luma Ultra. This model is priced at $599 and is aimed more towards power users and industry professionals. Its specs are similar to the Luma Pro, but with a peak brightness of 1,250 nits. It also boasts a front-facing RGB camera and dual grayscale depth cameras that help with spatial computing and gesture control.
Last but not least is “The Beast”. There is no word on pricing yet, but it is supposed to be the company’s flagship XR smart glasses. It comes with a wider 58-degree FoV, a full-metal build, built-in cameras and microphones, an industry-first screen customization, and dynamic tint control.
