Xiaomi TV Stick (2nd Gen) Is Now Official With Google TV Support

If you’ve been looking for a compact streaming stick with Google TV support, Xiaomi has a new option for you. The company has quietly unveiled the Xiaomi TV Stick (2nd Gen), but sadly, it won’t be up for sale in the US.

Well, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the Xiaomi TV Stick (2nd Gen). Earlier this month, folks over at 9to5Google spotted the product’s listing on Chinese online shopping store, AliExpress. In fact, that listing revealed pretty much everything about the tiny new device way before Xiaomi officially did. 

As you can see in the official images below, Xiaomi’s new TV Stick flaunts a compact form factor. In size, it’s somewhat bigger than a regular-sized USB drive. You can plug this USB-powered device into an HDMI device. On the compatibility front, it comes with 4K output, with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+. On top of that, this streaming stick supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X sound. 

Xiaomi has also upgraded the chipset inside its new TV stick, which makes it 80 percent faster for regular usage. It now uses Quad-core Cortex-A35 CPU, alongside an ARM G310 V2 GPU. Do note that it also comes with Wi-Fi 6 support, ensuring a buttery smooth streaming experience. Not to forget, you also get HDMI 2.1 and Micro USB ports.

Additionally, the Xiaomi TV Stick (2nd Gen) features 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. While these specs might not be top-tier in the market, the good news is that this is Xiaomi’s first Google TV-supported streaming stick. You can expect better content recommendations and new features like Home support. For now, it seems the device is only available in select global markets.
