YouTube Music is one of the most popular music and podcast streaming services globally. The app offers automatic sorting of music uploaded to YouTube. The automatic sourcing already allows users to discover more tracks, including reditions, audiobooks, covers, etc. To make things even better, YouTube Music may soon get a new Daily Discover feed. This aims to make the discovery process more seamless. This is a feature that Spotify doesn’t have.

YouTube Music Daily Discover feature appears on the homepage

Google is testing the new Daily Discover option to recommend new tracks every day based on user preferences. The feature is spotted by Reddit user One_Flow_8127 and will be present on the homepage. It is present on top of the “Trending songs for you” section, which appears after you scroll through YouTube Music’s homepage on the Android app.

The screenshots suggest that Daily Discover recommendations will appear in a carousel format, where you can scroll left or right to explore tracks. The feature shows recommendations for particular soundtracks instead of entire playlists. It also offers you the reason why it is under recommendations. There’s also a Play All button to combine all tracks into a new playlist.

This will allow users to discover new artists and their music, based on their interests and listening habits. While Spotify offers recommendations via discovery, they mainly focus on familiar artists. Another Reddit user, BarisberatWNR, found the new daily discovery feature a month ago, but the placement was different for them. This means that Google is experimenting with the placement where it gets more visibility.

As the feature is currently under testing, it’s unclear whether the daily discover feature will complement or replace YouTube’s Discover mix. The popular music streaming service from Google recently gained a cross-device resume playback feature. It allows you to resume playback on another device.
